Welcome to Belmont and our new revitalized Belmont Directory and Community Guide. We hope you will find it useful as you explore our city, its attractions, businesses and services to discover why living and working here is a gift to be cherished.
Although there was a Chamber here way back in 1931, it was disbanded during the depression and didn’t emerge again until 1950 when Embert Brown canvassed up and down El Camino Real and Ralston Avenue signing up business people to start a new Chamber of Commerce. Brown told everyone who would listen that, “A city without a Chamber of Commerce is like an automobile without an engine; it never goes any place!”
The goal of the Belmont Chamber of Commerce is to assure Belmont’s business future by creating a strong business environment through advocacy, communication, education and promotion. The Chamber acts as a liaison between the business community and the City Council; and provides information on local, state and federal issues that could affect our members.
While many of our visible functions are social in nature, we recognize that the rigors of business keep many of our members from actively participating. Don’t let that keep you from joining however, because more members give us a greater voice in the community to keep the engine in our automobile moving Belmont forward.
